What is School Dayz?

Harlem Quartet School Dayz constitutes a series of educational residencies throughout elementary schools within the city of New York. During the school year the Harlem Quartet, feauturing all First Place Laureates of the Sphinx Competition, will visit elementary schools in New York City. This in-school program involves extended exposure of students to works by minority composers, extensive question and answer sessions, and a sense of continuity provided by a return session. This provides students with the opportunity to learn more about the Laureate’s instrument, techniques used, why he/she began to play, and most importantly, how they might begin playing a string instrument.
