William H. Carson, M.D., is President & CEO of Otsuka Pharmaceutical Development & Commercialization, Inc. (OPDC). Dr. Carson was first elected to the Sphinx board in 2013 and was honored with the title of Chairman Emeritus in 2018 for his tireless leadership. In his role as Chair, he spearheaded a wide range of efforts that continue to strengthen Sphinx’s impact, including securing key underwriting support for Sphinx’s signature events, such as the Sphinx Virtuosi at Carnegie Hall and the Sphinx Medals of Excellence in Washington, D.C. For Otsuka, since his appointment in 2010, he has led the development efforts of compounds in neuroscience, cardio-renal, and oncology. Dr. Carson received an A.B. degree in history and science from Harvard University and an M.D. degree from Case Western Reserve University.
