Alfredo Alva
Mexican composer and cellist, born January 18, 1947.
Born in Guadalajara, Mexico, Alfredo Alva studied at the Escuela Nacional de Música of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma and at the Centro Nacional de Investigación, Documentación y Información Musical (CENIDIM) in Mexico City. His composition teacher was Federico Ibarra. Alva has been a member of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Xalapa since 1977. He has won First Prize in the composition competition in Xalapa, Mexico.
