Argentinian composer, pianist, and guitarist, born October 14, 1957.


Claudio Alsuyet was born on October 14th, 1957, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. A pianist and guitarist, Alsuyet also studied harmony, counterpoint, orchestration, and composition at the Collegium Musicum of Buenos Aires with Guillermo Graetzer. Alsuyet has written a significant number of works for orchestra, choir, chamber groups, and mixed media; his compositions incorporate the essence of Bueonos Aires and its popular music. An important example of Alsuyet’s work is the Buenos Aires Series, which includes: Buenos Aires, April; Buenos Aires, November; Buenos Aires, solo dos (processed flute and bandoneon samplers), Buenos Aires, far from portraits, (for bandoneon and string quartet, with a version where the bandoneon is replaced by an oboe). He has also composed two operas, En la isla and A ciegas. In 2000, Alsuyet was the resident composer at the Instituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colón. He later became the Director of Arte and Extensión Cultural of the Asociación Cultural Pestalozzi. Alsuyet’s work has premiered on several continents and earned him many awards and scholarships.
