Eduardo Diazmuñoz
Mexican composer, conductor, and teacher, born May 21, 1953.
Born in Mexico City in 1953, Eduardo Diazmuñoz made his debut at the age of twenty-two at the Palacio de Bellas Artes. He studied composition with Mario Lavista and Daniel Catán at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música of the INBA, Mexico. His conducting teachers include Léon Barzin, Francisco Savín, and Leonard Bernstein.
Diazmuñoz has taught at the Miami-Dade Community College in Miami, FL, USA, at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música of the INBA, and at the Société Philharmonique of Paris, France.
In addition to his international career, Diazmuñoz has served as the resident conductor for three of the most important orchestras in his country: the Filarmónica de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, the Mexican State Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Filarmónica de la Ciudad. He also served as assistant director to Leonard Berstein and Eduardo Mata in the 70s.
Diazmuñoz was nominated for two Latin Grammys (2000, 2001). In 2010, he composed and conducted the score for the Mexican feature film Espíritu de Triunfo.
