Esteban Benzecry

Argentinian composer, born April 13, 1970.


Esteban Benzecry was born in Lisbon, Portugal, on April 13th, 1970, but moved to Argentina just four years later. After studying painting at the Institute University Nacional del Arte, Benzecry studied composition with Haydée Gerardi and Sergio Hualpa in Argentina. Benzecry moved to Paris in 1997 and continued his composition studies with Jaques Charpentier at the Conservatory Nationale de Musique de Paris, where he also studied electroacoustic music with Luis Naón and Laurent Cuniot. In 1995, Benzecry was the Composer in Residence at the International Music Academy “Yehudi Menuhin” in Switzerland. He received a Guggenheim Fellowship for Music composition in 2008 and he was awarded the Konex Platinum award in 2019 for best composer of the decade in Argentina. Benzecry’s works have been performed by many notable soloists and orchestras all around the world.
