João Victor Bota

Brazilian composer, born in 1981.


João Victor Bota (1981) is a Brazilian contemporary composer born in the city of Rio Claro. The majority of his works are composed for symphonic groups, wind ensembles and solo instruments. João Victor Bota’s works are played by great Brazilian ensembles, like Banda Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo, Orquestra de Sopros do Conservatório de Tatuí and Camerata Aberta. Some of his music is being performed abroad, in countries like the United States of America, Norway, Venezuela, Spain and Poland. He earned a PhD in musical composition studies at UNICAMP (Campinas State University, Brazil), working with the support of CAPES foundation. In 2014, Mr. Bota was awarded by the Mozarteum Brasileiro with a scholarship to study during the period of one year in the Academy of Music in Kraków, where he worked with Profs. M. Bień, K. Nepelski, K. Penderecki and W. Z. Zych.
