Leticia Cuen
Mexican composer and teacher, born March 20, 1971.
Born in Mexico City, Mexico, Leticia Cuen studied composition with Salvador Rodríguez and Arturo Márquez at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. She later received a Doctorate in Music History (2001) and Musicology (2008) from the Université Paris-Sorbonne (Paris IV).
Between 2000 and 2002, she taught at the Escuela Nacional de Musica of the UNAM. After moving to France, she was the composer-in-residence at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris and currently teaches Music Education at the Collége Sainte-Anne in Orcines. Her compositions are performed around the world and her harp repertoire is often considered a standard for Latin American competitions. Cuen is a member of the Sociedad Mexicana de Nueva Música. She is also a founding member of Grupo Acihuatl.
