Rafael Elizondo
Mexican composer and guitarist, born 1930, died 1984
Born in Múzquiz, Coahuilla. Rafael Elizondo started playing guitar through familial lessons. He attended the University at the Escuela Nacional de Musica (UNAM) and later traveled to the USSR to further his guitar studies. His teachers include Candelario Huízar and Blas Galindo. Elizondo traveled throughout Mexico accompanying various artist such as Meche Carreño. List of awards include First place in the “X Concurso Internacional de guitar Simone Salmasso” (2001), Second place in the “III Concorso Internazionale ‘ Arte A 6 Corde’” (2007) and Second place in Culiacan’s Guitar Competition.
