René Baruch Maldonado
Mexican composer, born January 30, 1957.
Baruch Maldonado was born in San Andrés Tuxtla, Mexico, and studied music at the Facultad de Música at the Universidad Veracruzana. He also studied at the Taller de Composición de Armando Lavalle and later received a grant to attend the Johannesen School of the Arts in Victoria, Canada, where he graduated in 1994.
René Baruch Maldonado taught with la Facultad de Música at the Universidad Veracruzana, helping to create the curriculum for the Bachelor of Music degree, until he retired in 2012. While there, he taught courses on Music History, Research Methodology, Art Philosophy and Aesthetics, and Thesis Seminar. He was also the composer for the theater company at the Universidad of Veracruzana, and wrote works for a variety of solo instruments.
