Rogerio Caraballo, Venezuelan violinist, guitarist, composer, conductor and flutist, was born in the mid 19th century. A notable violinist to General Ramón de la Plaza, he also taught strings at the Academia de Música del Instituto Nacional de Bella Artes. In 1889, Caraballo founded and conducted the Estudiantina Venezolana in Caracas, after the important influence that the Estudiantina Española Fígaro had among the Venezuelan musicians when they visited the country in 1886.

Some of the musicians that played in the Estudiantina Venezolana were Enrique Cazoratt cello; on the bandurrias, Antonio Beccira, Carlos López, Erasmo Urdaneta Torres, Amable Torres and Victoriano Vicente Gil. Tomás I. Potentini, Diego Herrera Toro and José Manuel Enche were on the bandolas. The guitar players consisted of Eudoro Lozana and Miguel Fleytas. Rogerio Caraballo directed the group and also played the violin in the ensemble. Caraballo passed away in the early 20th century.
