Eric J. Rubio


Director of Finance and Administration | National Symphony Orchestra at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts

Eric J. Rubio is an accomplished performing arts management professional and arts advocate, originally from Chicago and now based in the nation's capital. He is Director of Finance and Administration for the National Symphony Orchestra and co-president of Embracing Arlington Arts, an advocacy organization.

Previously, he served as Director of Finance and Administration for The Washington Chorus, finance and operations manager for Seraphic Fire, the Miami-based, Grammy-nominated professional vocal ensemble, and was on staff at the Wheaton College Conservatory of Music where he was production manager for performances featuring many Grammy winners including Canadian Brass, pianist Emanuel Ax, singer/songwriter Michael W. Smith, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

Prior to assuming a management career, Eric served for three years as a middle school band director, in both public and private schools, in Chicago’s western suburbs. Eric holds the Bachelor of Music Education degree from Wheaton College (Illinois). He has been active as a church musician in Florida, Illinois, and Virginia and is a freelance writer across a variety of platforms.

In addition to his professional engagements, Eric has volunteered his time to the arts world in every place he has called home. He has served on the executive and nominating committees of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Overture Council, a young professionals organization, and as a grant panelist with the state arts agencies of Florida and Virginia.

Eric is married to Naomi Attaway and the couple lives in Arlington, Virginia, with their American bulldog, Weasley.
