Alex Gonzalez
Described by the Viborg Folkeblad as a "true virtuoso...that left the audience almost breathless,” violinist Alex Gonzalez has appeared across the United States and abroad as a chamber musician, ensemble leader, and educator. In addition to performing with the Sphinx Virtuosi, Alex is a member of The Knights and serves as Assistant Professor of Violin at the University of Colorado Boulder College of Music.
Alex has enjoyed performances at Carnegie Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, National Gallery of Art, Oxford University, Sitka Music Festival, and Thy Chamber Music Festival (Denmark). His performances have been aired on BBC Radio 3, WQXR, and the SkyArts Television network. A former member of the New World Symphony, Gonzalez has also played extensively with the Chineke! Foundation. Alex is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music, Rice University, and Carnegie Mellon University. His major teachers include Shakeh Ghoukasian, Oleh Krysa, Paul Kantor, and Cyrus Forough. Alex performs on a violin made for him by Mario Miralles in 2017.
