Thierry de Lucas
Born in Goiânia (GO), Brazil, Thierry de Lucas Neves began his musical studies at the age of 9 receiving violin lessons with Professor Dário José and later mentoring Professor Luciano Pontes. In 2011, he moved to Rio de Janeiro taking lessons with the violinist and professor at Rio de Janeiro Federal University Daniel Guedes. Among the festivals he participated are: Oficina de música de Curitiba, Santa Catarina Music Festival (FEMUSIC), Campos do Jordão Winter Festival, Ilumina Festival and YAP (Young artists program) in Canada. Thierry won several competitions including Curitiba Festival in 2011, Paulo Bosísio in 2009, Young Soloist of Goias philharmonic (2014), Young Soloists of UFRJ (2015), recently received the Achievement Award at the 25th annual Sphinx Competition.
As a soloist, he performed with: Goiás Youth Symphony, Goyazes Chamber Orchestra, Goiânia Symphony Orchestra, Goiás Philharmonic and UFRJ Symphony Orchestra. Worked as concertmaster of the Young Brazilian Symphony Orchestra, Academia Jovem concertante, Cesgranrio Symphony Orchestra and Goiânia Symphony Orchestra. He also worked as violin session of important orchestras on the national scene such as: Orquestra do Estado do Mato Grosso, Philharmonic of Goiás, Bahia Symphony Orchestra, Petrobras Symphony and Brazilian Symphony Orchestra. In 2013, he received a scholarship from the Campos do Jordão International Winter Festival to participate in the Chamberfest at the Juilliard School in New York where he received the guidance of violinist Lara Lev. He received great reviews from the newspaper “The New York Times”. Currently Thierry is a student at the Manhattan School of Music in New York in the Class of Patinka Kopec.
